Tewantin State School is situated at the northern end of the Sunshine
Coast, approximately 10km up river from the tourist destination of Noosa. The
school has served the local community for over 140 years, and has a proud
tradition of community involvement and academic achievement.
As a school, we aim to inspire our community of learners. We are
committed to the belief that all students are entitled to enjoy growing and
learning as they pass from Prep to Year 6, and beyond.
Our school has approximately 600 students and services the local area of
Tewantin and Noosaville. Our families come from many areas including Sunshine
Beach, Noosa Junction and Cooroy as parents and carers work in the local
Tewantin area.
With many new families moving in to our local community throughout the year, Tewantin SS is well experienced in ensuring a seamless transition for our new students and families. Students and staff warmly welcome our new arrivals in to our school community.
Tewantin State School is located in the heart of Tewantin and is in
close proximity to two outstanding high schools, Noosa District and Sunshine
Beach. As a main feeder school, we have a strong partnership with both schools,
offering students a number of learning experiences throughout the year at each
of the high schools.
Our teaching and non-teaching staff are very dedicated and have developed
a strong loyalty to the school and its children. Their commitment to providing
quality public education is unequalled. Additional support is provided by
Advisory Teachers including a Guidance Officer and Speech Therapist.
Each year we participate in and host a number of highly successful and
ever popular community events. These include, Harmony Day, Easter Hat Parade, East
Timor Shoe Box Parade, ANZAC Day March and Memorial, Under 8’s Day, NAIDOC
Week, Book Week and Spring Fair.
Our students also have the opportunity to participate in Gifted and
Talented Programs, Acceler8 (academic extension) Classes, Instrumental Music –
Brass, Woodwind and Percussion, Drum and Guitar Lessons, School Band, Ukulele
Club, On-Site Swimming Lessons, International Visits from Student Study tours,
Comprehensive recycling and environmental program, Story Dogs, and a wide range
of sporting programs with athletics, swimming and cross country carnivals
across all ages.
Tewantin State School has a strong community involvement and ties with
local organisations such as the Noosa Regional Art Gallery, Rotary, Noosa
Tewantin RSL, Noosa Lions Club and the CWA.
