Behaviour management

At Tewantin State School, we have high expectations for students and their behaviour. Our School Behaviour Expectations are formed under the Tewantin Way Team who help drive positive behaviour management​ through our school. 

Our school has three rules, which focus on how to be safe, how to be respectful and how to be a learner. We are safe, we are respectful, we are learners. 

Staff members at our school focus on explicitly teaching students the expectations and by having a common and consistent language across the whole school, ensuring all students are more able to reach their full potential and display appropriate behaviour.

Tewantin State School has a major focus on the positive aspects of students' behaviour while still addressing other behaviours. Our school looks to reward students for doing the right thing. All students are rewarded through coloured behaviour balls in class, which 'fill the bill' on parade, culminating in a Whole School Reward when the bill overflows. This can include, crazy sock day, 10 mins extra play time and ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​onesie day to name a few. 

Students also have the opportunity to earn Tewantin Tickets, which are drawn on weekly parades.

Tewantin State School students are taught to 'do the High Five' to help inform positive playground choices. 

The Tewantin State School Responsible Behaviour Plan clearly outlines consequences for any form of bullying and we are fortunate to have a Guidance Officer to support us in this area.​​​​​​
