Each year, students at Tewantin State School honour little Summer Steer, who tragically lost her life after swallowing a button battery.
Students are invited to wear a touch of purple and bring a gold coin donation to raise funds and awareness about the dangers of button batteries.
Summer's mum, Andrea, visits the school each year to talk to the children and help them tie purple ribbons to our fence.
Prinicpal, Rob Jennings said "today is about talking to the kids about the dangers of button batteries, but also a day for our school community to support Andrea and Summer's family"
