2024 Book Week at Tewantin State School
As communicated in the Term 3 'Save the Dates', Book Week at Tewantin State School will be celebrated in Week 8 (26th - 29th August). The Children's Book Council of Australia theme for Book Week 2024 is 'Reading is Magic'. There will be a number activities across the week, culminating in our Book Week assembly and guest presenter Stig Wemyss on the morning of Thursday 29th August. We are thankful to the Noosa Library for organising Stig's visit.
Fancy Dress: Book Week Assembly
There will be a Fancy Dress Assembly on Thursday 29th August. Encourage your child/ren to come along dressed as their favourite book characters. Extra kudos for dressing up to match the theme of 'Reading is Magic!' Stig Wemyss (Storyteller/Performer) will be our guest entertainer following the fancy dress parade. Door Decorating Contest
This year, Mrs Pittori is excited to announce a Door Decorating Contest during Book Week! Teachers and their classes are invited to celebrate their love of books by creating a classroom door display that links to the theme 'Reading Is Magic' A prize will be organised for the most creative classroom door. Good luck to all of the classes!
My Favourite Book
During this week and next, Mr J is looking for staff and students to record and share a brief video about their favourite books and express their opinion on why they like them so much. Students will be able to come to the library at lunch times to make their recordings. Alternatively mums and dads could send them in. 'My Favourite Book' clips will be shared with classes to inspire other students to grab a copy of a book they may never have considered reading before.
Scavenger Hunt
Back by popular demand! Book themed clues will be placed around the school during book week. Students will be encouraged to use the clues to solve each book title for their chance to win a prize.
Teddy Bears' Picnic
On Tuesday 27th August, students in years Prep to Year 3 will be celebrating Book Week with our Teddy Bears' Picnic. All classes from years P-3 are invited from 10:00am-11:00am in the Junior Playground for morning tea with family and friends and of course, their teddy bears! The morning will conclude with a live music performance with Mr C.
Premier's Reading Challenge
For students participating in the Premier's Reading Challenge, the close date is Friday 23 August (this week). Please have all completed reading records returned to school by this Friday. There is an entry box in the library for students to put their completed forms in.
